Diaper Bags - The Newest Fashion Accessory

The days of the diaper bag just being a utility piece are over. These days, diaper bags are high-fashion. Today it is just as much about what they look like as it is how much gear they can hold.

When you think about diaper bags, you are probably thinking about how much of a necessity they are. They carry anything and everything that your little one may need while you're on the go. Most parents think more about what is inside their bag than what they see on the outside. They look for multiple compartments and lots of storage space for all the things that their baby may need while they are out of the house.

Prints and Patterns

The first thing that will strike your eye as you wonder down the baby accessory aisles available at your local store is the color and patterns that are available now. At one time, your only choices in diaper bags were pink, blue or green. Now, you can find them in any color under the rainbow. These high fashion bags also come in a large assortment of prints and patterns to compliment any parent's style. The use of all this color and pattern makes them more of fashion accessory rather than just something to carryall of your child's toys and necessities around in.

Style of Bag

There was a time when all diaper bags came in the same shape and size. The lack of color & design choices left something to be desired. Not anymore when you consider the newest and hottest trends seen in diaper bags. There are several choices for you.

You can choose from one of the common yet versatile styles of diaper bags, the tote bag. Or you may want to look at one of the more popular styles for young parents, the backpack style. This will free up your hands to be able to hold your little one and anything else you may need to do while still keeping the necessities close by. Diaper bags also come in sizes from large carry-all bags to the smaller more trendy sizes that are designed to hold nothing more than a diaper or two and bottle for quick outings. This makes it easy to choose the right fashion accessory diaper bag to match what you will be doing for the day.

Diaper Bags for Men Too

Many times when people think of diaper bags, they think of mom being the one to carry it. This does not need to be the case with all of the new styles available. A trendy backpack style in a camouflage print is sure to make any dad comfortable with carrying around their little one's stuff.

With all of the trends, designs and styles that are available these days, most parents find it necessary to have two or three. This makes it easier to choose the right one for your day out with the little one. Just don't be surprised when someone stops you on the playground and tells you how fabulous your diaper bag looks.

Diapers For Your Swimming Baby

When can babies learn to swim? According to many experts, babies who are introduced to pools and swimming are not only at less risk of drowning but benefit from superior physical co-ordination, social confidence and mental development, and positive parent-child interaction. There are several step-by-step resources for parents to follow.

One essential item that you'll need are diapers for swimming. Most public pools and swim training programs require your baby to have these specially designed diapers. Baby swim diapers can prevent the spread of bacteria including E. coli in the water.

There are a few dozen leading brands of diapers that are sold across the country. New Mom's may be confused when selecting a baby diaper for their little one and some of the descriptions may be a little confusing for the inexperienced.

What should you look for in a good swimming diaper? Snug fit is essential to prevent leaks. The outside should have a waterproof layer to keep the diaper from becoming waterlogged and heavy. The inside should be soft and comfortable for babies delicate skin. Many baby swim diapers are designed to be worn alone, however some can be worn over a disposable diaper or under a regular swimsuit.

Many baby swim diapers come with adjustable waists and gusseted legs for a secure and comfortable fit. They come in many different styles, colorful fabrics and prints so your baby will be stylish and well protected. Some of the diapers also come with matching tops and blouses. Style and color will be important to your toddlers, as they become aware and choose their clothes.

Reusable diapers can be washed and reused all season! The reusable diapers can just be tossed into the washing machine along with other baby clothes. Reusable diapers also support your green initiatives to decrease diapers in landfills.

How long will my baby swim diapers last? In most cases your baby will outgrown the baby diaper before it wears out. When purchasing, you may want to buy the next size up so that you're always prepared when your child grows.

Are swim diapers safe for Pools? Unlike conventional disposable diapers, by design, baby swim diapers will not fall apart in the water. This prevents diapers from clogging pool filters and causing pool pump problems.

Prevent messy pool accidents by using a diaper that is comfortable and cute! Don't forget your sunscreen and hat.

Advantages of Free Adult Diapers

Usually, one associates diapers with children but these days, there is a lot of demand for adult diapers, due to the frequent health issues faced by aged people. While diapers are generally costly, some companies do provide free diapers to cater to the growing need.

Two Basic Reasons for Using Diapers for Adults:

1. Free adult diapers will help people who suffer from incontinence, that is, a person's inability to control the urinary and defecation functions. This problem occurs in advanced age when the person has lost all or partial controlling powers.

Other problems include mobility issues (people who are paralyzed or using wheelchairs) or dementia. Such diapers are frequently used in medical institutions for patient's care, especially after major operations to reduce the risk of infections.

Introducing the concept to an adult can be a difficult task as people tend to ascribe this phenomenon to be socially embarrassing. For some people, it needs a lot of convincing.

2. There have been recent cases where working professionals confirmed using diapers as the companies they work for do not allow requisite timings to attend the nature's call. Owing to the fact that these diapers are costly, more so because one has to wear them daily, you should access companies providing free diapers.

The diapers are available in the form of sanitary pads (generally for women), underpants or simply as worn by children. Opting for free adult diapers means reducing costs from a monthly budget. To choose diapers, check its absorption factor, softness (to avoid rashes), and its usability (some adult diapers are reusable).

Some people consider diapers to be helpful in regulating the bowels. As Seann Odoms says: "Diapers are nothing other than a more practical and healthy form of underwear." What can be more amazing is you now have the opportunity to receive free adult diapers.

US Navy sailors at Thai school in Thalang, Phuket

Students at Baan Paklong-cheep Anusorn School are very happy with the US navy sailors volunteering to help paint their school. Lets go check out their art work! These 15 to 20 men & women are US navy sailors from the USS CHUNG-HOON ship that stopped by at Baan Paklong-cheep Anusorn School to finish the painting work that the past Community Relations or COMREL by the USS Boxer ship sailors had started to paint on a hallway and handrail up a stairway. The school is about 45 minutes drive from the deep sea port, where the ships moor, which is quite convenient for sailors to stop by and visit so they also played soccer with the children. Rotary Club of Patong Beach also supplied paint, brushes, rollers, ladders, sheets and other tools for painting. The Rotary Club told Andaman News that more painting was needed on the stairways and hallways. This charity event was suggested by the Phuket International Womens Club (PIWC) who give scholarships to some of its students. Larry Amsden from Phuket Rotary Club of Patong Beach, explained to Andaman News why the US navies came here: Root or Bhundit Maneejak, the owner and leader of Home and Life Thailand foundation for unfortunate kids that lost their parents during the Tsunami disaster, also brought all the foundations kids to this school and joined lunch with the US navy sailors. He also expressed his gratitude about the event and how happy the kids seemed to be. Interview Bhundit Maneejak. The kids are very happy for this event ...

Ed Hardy Snowblazer - Amazing Style in a Women's Winter Boot

For ladies who are looking to have a "touch of Ed Hardy" in their wardrobe this winter, Ed Hardy Snowblazer boots are an excellent choice.  These boots for women are not only warm and comfortable, they are also amazingly stylish and have some versatility built right in.

Last year (in 2008) the selection for the Snowblazer (and Snowblazer Stones) boots was nice - this winter the selection is looking to be nothing short of amazing.  There are not only additional colors that I've spotted but additional patterns as well.  Striking background colors such as red are hitting the shelves but it is likely that they won't remain there very long!

All Snowblazer boots have a few things in common:

They have a nice height to them - 15" shaft height to come up right to the knee
They can be worn cuffed or up - This adds the versatility that I mentioned above.  They can actually be worn high enough to cover the knee or folded over for a cuffed style
They feature incredibly sharp and colorful Ed Hardy designs, each of the designs contrasts beautifully with the basic or background color of the boots
Each of the boots bears the famous "Ed Hardy" signature logo

A number of the styles also feature rhinestones that further accent the looks and designs of the boots - setting them apart even more.

Ed Hardy Snowblazer boots were quite popular last winter - and the fact that they are back this year stronger than ever is not only a sign of great fashion, but a quality product as well.  So - if you're on the lookout for these boots and are wondering whether they are as good as they seem, chances are that you will love them!

Urban Baby Clothes

Are you a cool dresser and do you want your baby to look the same? Urban baby clothes are great for making your new baby look stylish and trendy when you are out shopping, but they are also functional clothes for all seasons. Individual pieces can be put together to create a really trendy look whether you are in a city mall or playing in the park.

I always think of urban clothing as utility wear, yet flexible enough to be worn in any situation. Babies are really tough on their clothes, you may put bibs on them but they still manage to spread the mess everywhere. The fabric of all baby clothes should be soft and capable of withstanding numerous washes.

Urban baby clothes may be fashionable but they are adaptable. Wearing layers is a real advantage when kitting your baby out. When it is chilly, a trendy T-shirt over a long sleeves is ideal, if the weather warms up, then it is easy to strip one off. If it turns really cold, add a hoodie and your babe will be snug.

Urban clothes are hard wearing. Think of the stylish but practical, casual look that you wear around the city and transfer the idea to your baby. Cargo trousers will look as trendy on your baby as they do on you, stylish sneakers and boots are available in baby sizes. Hats, gloves and scarves will finish the outfit.

If you live in a small town rather than a city, you may find little choice in your local shops, but online there are a number of great stores stocking a wide variety of urban outfits and accessories to go with them.

Online auctions are a good place to look for clothing bargains. As good quality urban clothes are tough, children outgrow them so quickly they do not wear out. Selling them online means parents can make a little money to reinvest in a new outfit, while the buyer gets them at a fraction of the shop price. Look out for bundles of clothes, you may not like them all, but you can always put any you don't want back into the auction.

Of course there is no need to stop at clothes. Really cool bibs, bottles and fancy diapers bags are all available to complete the image. There are some great looking sling carriers for your little tot too, so shop around and turn your baby out as stylish as yourself!

Help - Silver, Gold, Pearl - What Earring Material Should I Wear?

Earrings are a small but yet so important part of your outfit and styling. The small things usually matter the most, and therefore a detail such as earrings could be crucial for your overall fashion expression. The type of accessories which you choose to pair with your outfit will be of your choice but most women have a certain style they follow and this applies to the earrings as well.

The first choice any fashionable woman will come across when it comes to earrings is the material. You have many women who only wear gold, then on the other side you have women who are only attracted to silver. And then there is a group in between that actually doesn't mind wearing any material just as long as it fits.

Pearl earrings and necklaces were very popular back in the 80's and their popularity dropped with the modern time. However, the trend is reversing. These small pearl accessories highlight any outfit both with high class and modesty. Just think of a famous painting "Girl with a Pearl Earring", a work of Johannes Vermeer, known as the Dutch painter. Its simplicity brings out the inner beauty and everlasting style. Pearl stands the test of time and fashions.

Gold is also timeless. However, even though it is somewhere considered to be a status symbol not all women prefer it. Silver earrings are very popular with the younger generations.

As fashion styles move through decades, styles of earrings change too. In the 80's earrings were quite large in size and this is why most of the earrings from that time were "on clip". They were just too heavy to be worn as pierced earrings. As we mentioned before, pearl earrings were very popular even though there were many imitations of this material to be found at the time. Gold was also in fashion in the 80's as well as the gold imitations.

During the 90's creativity of the earrings has advanced and a trendy woman with a desire for a nice pair of earrings could choose between many styles and shapes such as stud, hoop earrings, dangle earrings, etc. Glass, plastic, metal, stone, beads, silicon etc. were introduced to the fashion mainstream as materials used for making earrings.

During the late 90's a unique trend won the market - body piercing. With body piercing a new material was introduced - the "surgical steel". This material gives the impression of silver and doesn't cause any allergic reaction which makes it a perfect material for any type of body jewellery.

Cubic zirconia body jewellery and earrings suddenly made an impact on the fashion market. Many celebrities and people all around the globe turned themselves to body piercing as the latest fashion trend. Many women and men nowadays don't have their ears typically pierced but instead choose a small piercing on the top of their ear, or even maybe two or three in a row in one lobe. Variations are unlimited and your imagination can produce a particular personal styling.

Diaper Bag Review - The Patent Ruby Tote Diaper Bag by Timi and Leslie

Timi and Leslie have totally revitalized their entire line of diaper bags to focus on their mission; provide gorgeous functional luxury diaper bags that appeal to the woman in every mom. They manufacture high quality, high profile, and highly attractive hand bags, totes, and messenger bags that cleverly convert to become conveniently functional diaper bags. We have reviewed the Patent Ruby Tote and consider it to be an excellent example of the new direction that this designer of diaper bags has taken.

Celebrity Favorite

The Patent Ruby Tote is one of the major reasons this company has caught the attention of celebrity moms and dads like Angelina Jolie, Christina Aguilera, Nicole Kidman, and even Jack Black who carries the Dad version. Timi and Leslie have streamlined their designs to provide city style and yet maintain a casual feel, as witnessed in this elegant but comfortable tote. Any mom, celebrity or not, would be confident in carrying this striking diaper bag to the office, the board meeting, or on the town for an evening's social event.

Conveniently Convertible

As a design-driven company, they created the latest innovation in designer diaper bags which is the ability to convert the highly functional baby bag into a fully fashioned, boutique style handbag, within only seconds. Before the Timi and Leslie brilliant engineering, it used to be that once the baby had grown out of bottles and diapers, the need for a gorgeous leather diaper bag resolved itself and your favorite bag was rendered obsolete. Now, you simply remove the baby specific components and convert the baby pockets to your personal pockets and you can continue to carry your stylish and fashionable tote.

Expertly Functional

The Patent Ruby Tote carries all the signature Timi and Leslie convertible bag features, including the detachable patent leather shoulder strap, the removable bottle tote and changing pad, a wristlet for personal items for either baby or Mommy, stroller straps, waterproof lining, elasticized inner pockets for holding either diapers, wipes, and more bottles or makeup, wallet, and cell, and, of course, the very helpful easy access key fob. The size of this tote is impressive, a full fifteen inches x eighteen inches x four and a half inches and in sturdy patent leather. Should need be, you can even carry your laptop, along with everything else. This is handy because once we start adding all the different bags and paraphernalia that a mother can carry, the weight becomes a bit much for her shoulder and back.

Gorgeous to Look At

The bottom line with Timi and Leslie diaper bags is that they design bags that look beautiful, no matter what their mission in life. We agree that they appeal to the woman in every Mom, and not any less so with the Patent Ruby Tote. In perfect color harmony with the coming fall season, this tote comes in Chocolate suede with patent leather trim, Cream, Eggplant, and Red. These diaper bags fulfill all the criteria for high performance diaper bags except for one thing, I am partial to black bags and of all the styles available in black, this is not one of them.

Essential Dad and Parent Skills 2-1 How to Change a Diaper

If you google about dad changing diaper, you are most likely to find a dad complaining about changing a diaper or saying they almost fainted, or some ridiculous video on it, etc... Give me a break. Are you a man or not? Women don't even complain! You don't hear your baby complaining when you let one rip so nasty that is practically peeling the paint off the walls in the bathroom do you? It isn't that big a deal. Now I have gotten a lot better at changing a diaper since doing this video, but this should still give you the general idea. It is fast and it is easy. Especially at home. "A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, con a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects." - Robert Heinlein, Time Enough forLove Love it? Hate it? Like it? Know how to do it better? Just looking for advice? Care to comment? Things That Grown Women Don't Wear

Apart from diapers, you mean? Even then, that's questionable since we do use sanitary napkins...which...erm, some kids liken to a nappy. I know of one mother who actually said it was a nappy to her kids! I was like....argh, eugh, gross...but she took it in her stride, raising her eyebrows asking, "What do YOU suggest I tell them?"

I don't know...but I told my son that it was none of his business and if he ever dares to touch those...erm, stuff or take it out of the room, I will personally see that his PC game privileges are taken away from him. And he refuses to look into my personal drawer after that.

I am no clothes-horse in person and it was only a couple of hours ago that my aunt in Dubai called me to tell me that I was sloppy. In my personal opinion, I am 'carelessly casual'. Hey, can you blame me for being so when I work at home and have to consider changing in and out of clothes often because there's pee, poo, spit, vomit...and what-have-you-nots on them. I do have to take care of my kids, you know! Donald Trump is, unfortunately, out of my league and he's not my father, so, I have to take care of the kids and work at home at the same time, ok?

And since I work at home, is there a point to dress up in coats and skirts....what, to please my computer?

Anyway, in my personal opinion, there are several things that women shouldn't wear, under ANY circumstance.

ONE, pigtails. I used to have long hair and whenever I had to perform one of those 'ah-sam' (women who have to perform lots of house chores) work, I would tie pigtails. Now I don't. Why? Well, one of my cousins once asked me if I was trying to behave, act and look like a maid. If I walked side-by-side with my maid, they'd think I was the maid cause even my maid does not wear pigtails.

TWO, overcoats. In this friggin' weather?? Come on. But even if I was living in a very cold country, I would only wear an overcoat if someone threatened to shave my eyebrows off, ok?

THREE, checkered red and black skirts. ....and look like I was wearing a kilt? Come on. Besides, Kilts are for Scottish MEN, mind you, not sensible women.

FOUR, socks that goes up to the knee. You want to look girly, go for plastic surgery, dear. Wearing socks that goes up to your knee will only make you look like you're out of your mind, not younger.

FIVE, frilly frocks. Lord, only people who belong in an asylum will want to wear a frilly frock. Or are you pretending to be a princess in the making? Look, if you're 30 ot 40 years old, wearing a frilly frock makes you look like you don't know the difference between your nose and your knee.

For aging women, the best thing is to go for simple and casual stuff....back to the kind of clothes I would wear anytime of the day. As long as it is kept simple, nice, tidy, classy and not creased like you'd been snogging with your fave bloke behind the curtain, you should be safe.

Coming from a person who would rather be shot in the toe than wear high heels, you might want to consider whether you want to listen to me yap on about FASHION or not.

This is Dedicated to All Those Single Ladies That Wonder If They Are Missing Out

You wake up in the morning to the sound of your 6yr old cheering about the money the tooth fairy left under his pillow. You have no time to enjoy this because all it does is remind you that you left that darn tooth on the couch and you are about to be found out, so you run. In leaving so quickly, you neglect to turn off the alarm and you have to sprint back to shut off the damn beeping before the baby wakes up. You get the two kiddos dressed, fed and out the door but just as you are dropping them off you realize that yellow teeth are more of a reflection on you than them and you wish you would have remembered to brush their teeth this morning.

Back home and you really need to get your work done. You get your coffee and get started but then the baby needs a diaper and food and the 2yr old has hidden in the laundry to have some bathroom privacy and this causes a huge delay in your progress. You run to the bathroom to get a towel when you see your reflection and...well...moving on. You need a shower really badly but you must get your work done before the a.m. preschool pickup times comes around.
Now you get everyone dressed, dash to pickup, and head to the park for a classmate's birthday party. You have bought a gift and are taking the time to go when your child announces that the birthday girl is not his friend, great. You get to the party and although there are a couple of fun girls to chat with, chatting is not easy due to the constant interruption of checking on multiple children to see if one has left the park to join a new family. While there, you realize that you are having to ignore the icy stares of strange women who seem to be quite judgy. You decide you don't care because they have plucked their eyebrows too thin and have way overprocessed hair..ha. Party is over and thank goodness the cake was chocolate and the pizza had sausage because you avoided eating the kids leftovers for lunch. You head home and are grateful that the baby is asleep and it is the 2yr old's nap time..you will get your work done.

You start working and are making good progress when you start feeling light headed and whoozy. That is when you remember that you did not eat breakfast or lunch and in fact your full cup of coffee is still sitting on the counter from the morning. Now you are feeling grateful that your husband got laid off because he has time to make you a sandwich while you finally finish up your work. Dear hubby heads out to the post office but you are left with three kiddos and one to pick up from school and the 2 yr old is still sleeping. You cram everyone in the van, including groggy toddler, and head up to the school to pick up your eldest. You realize that your hair is 100% worse now than it was this morning and it was bad this morning so you throw on your sunglasses because somehow you wearing sunglasses makes it harder for other people to detect your dirty hair.

Your home and now you accomplish something that does not happen most days. Your three boys pick up the house quickly without complaint the first time you ask, wow. What skill have you mastered? Well, bribery, they will do anything for a little bag of chips. So now it is 3pm and then it is 4:30 and what happened in that time, mysteriously there is no memory and you wonder what you could have gotten done had you not been doing whatever it was you were doing!!

The yelling starts and the two oldest boys are correcting your two year old so you march in to stand up for that cutey when you see your bathroom walls decorated with stripper red lipstick that you did not know you owned. Ah, you are so relieved because you did not want to relax, read, watch TV, eat, or any other such thing and the mess has given you purpose to your life. You get Windex and paper towels and sit down on the floor to clean. You are going to use this as a learning opportunity so you give the 2yr old his own paper towel to clean his own mess. Aren't you clever...turns out that this is a giant reward and the only thing better than smeering the lipstick in the first place is getting to wipe it off with mom. 30 minutes later you are high on fumes and your eyes are bleery enough that you can't tell if the walls are still messed up or if they had that pink hew to begin with.

Oh damn, time for dinner and you have no ideas. Is it really bad to give everyone cereal, again? The day is wrapping up and maybe just maybe if you get their yellow teeth white and your dirty hair clean it will all be a success. Here you are Living the Dream.

Unique And Beautiful Designer Diaper Bags By Australian Designers Who Think Outside The Bag!

I search all over to find diaper bags that are not only unique and beautiful, but also functional. I came across several Australian designed diaper bags (which they call nappy bags or change bags) in the last couple of days and I though that I would share them here.

Some of the designs we are pretty familiar with come from Australia are OiOi and Storksak. The designers from these two companies are pretty popular with celebraties and non-celebraties alike. So I thought to myself there has to be other designers from this country that are just as creative as those two. Here are my findings and I must say they are some very stylish and creatively designed bags which most like most women who want a style of their own can appreciate.

The first diaper bag is called the Isoki ( which is an African name for "beautiful gift"). The company launched in May to a very receptive audience of moms in Australia who love the concept. The concept I speak about is that the diaper bag is reversible and the shape of the bag is very unique. You actually get 2 bags in 1!! There are 3 different color designs to choose from the Isoki Bahama Birds , Moroccan Vine and Vintage Floral and 2 styles the Reversible Baby Bag and the Reversible Hobo.

There are so many feautures to this bag. Check it out:

Depend Briefs for Women: Now SUPER ABSORBENT!

Another Digital Message Making piece. Had to do a 30 second commercial for any product of our choice. Originally, they were required to have humorous content, but the teacher removed that. Me being me, however, I kept the humorous quality. I'm going to be making some additional ads for this one too. I ended up with so much footage that I decided I could make about 4 or 5 different, yet similar, ads. Music: Fur Elise Valentina Lisitsa

Babywearing - The Art of Wearing Your Baby in a Sling Or Carrier

I was once asked what parenting tool I found most valuable. My answer is babywearing. I find babywearing to be the most valuable tool for parenting because of all the abundant benefits to parent and baby and because of the lifestyle you find yourself in when you embrace wearing your baby.

It is so interesting to me when people ask about this new or alternative parenting style. Parents have been wearing their babies for centuries. Strollers are the new, alternative invention. Women all over the world wear their babies every day, as did their mothers and grandmothers. Wearing your baby provides a feeling of completeness. You know I love following your innate wisdom as a mother and do you not feel that sense of completeness when baby is pressed against your chest? Carrying or babywearing meets a baby's needs for physical contact, affection, security, stimulation, and movement (all of which encourage neurological development) while on the go.

What is it?

In response to me telling a therapist friend that I practice babywearing, she replied, "What is that? You wear a scarf made out of babies? That is really messed up Rachel." Of course, she was joking. But the truth was that even this intelligent, well-educated, well-meaning, helper of families was so unfamiliar with the concept that I may as well have been talking about wearing scarves made out of babies. To wear your baby means to carry her, to hold her on your body. It's really that simple. To get all these amazing benefits, all you have to do is hold your baby. With the addition of a sling or carrier to the equation, babywearing not only makes all the all tenants of attachment parenting easier but life in general! Make the sling part of your daily wardrobe, pop baby in, and live your life. Voila- babywearing.

Why?

Babywearing gives mom freedom! So many parents out there think they have to choose: sit cozy in a chair and rock your baby on your chest and breastfeed or strap baby to a chair venture out into the world- but what if baby wants to nurse? What if he gets cold? What if he demands to be held and then how will you push the stroller and open doors? Babywearing gives you the freedom to have it all! Baby is snuggled close, safe and cozy, rhythmically moving, can breastfeed anytime with privacy all while mom has 2 free hands, complete mobility, and gets to be connected to the outside world! You are less dependent on things like car seat carriers, cribs, and swings. The entire world becomes a safe haven for baby- you are home, not house is home. Really think about that. You can do anything and go anywhere if you are home to baby. You are now free to go out! Home is where mother is, no reason mother has to be stuck at home. Babies in slings are quiet and content so they are society-friendly. Bring them out to dinner, take baby to that office party, you are now set up to live a truly family-integrated lifestyle. Even traveling need not be feared (unfamiliar sights and sounds are not frightening, easier transitions, close by (no wandering)).

Have a baby who cries (rhetorical question- all babies cry sometimes). Then babywearing is your savior because it calms baby. One study found that compared to a control group of babies whose parents were not given a free sling and encouraged to babywear, they cried 43% less! Also, in cross cultural studies of other cultures where babies are worn all the time, long periods of crying are unheard of. One of the culprits for crying is disorganization (of the nervous system). Infant Massage helps regulate this and so does babywearing. It promotes organization by teaching babies how to be content, in large part because it mimics the womb (swaddling, heartbeat, temp regulation, nutrition right there, rythmic motion, booming voice, not alone). Fans of The Happiest Baby on the Block program should love babywearing. If getting baby down for bedtime is a challenge in your home, try "wearing down". Just wear baby, live your life, he will fall asleep, remove yourself from the sling and place him in bed.

Babywearing promotes learning in all aspects of development. Babies learn about the world from the carrier. They see what mom sees, hear what dad hears, and experience mom and dad's reaction to the stimuli. Babywearing enhances speech development. Worn babies are right at mouth and eye level. They are right there, involved in all your conversations. Before you know it, they are even including themselves.

Babywearing makes you a better and more successful parent. One example is improved attentiveness. In one study moms were given a sling or infant seat. Carrying moms were more attentive at postpartum and 13 months and infants were more securely attached. Another example is improved breastfeeding success. Wearing your baby in a sling makes breastfeeding easier, makes discreet nursing easier, satisfies the frequent nurser, organizes problem suckers (gets them in the right position and relaxed), and helps the slow-to-gain-weight baby. Babywearing makes home management easier. You can get all your household stuff done even though sometimes baby is just not happy anywhere but in the arms of mom or dad. Put baby in the carrier and wash the dishes, fold the laundry, vacuum the floors (babies are especially soothed by this one- try it!). Trying to be a great mom to baby and an older sibling? Babywearing gives you the freedom to give your hands and attention to big sister. Another great example is work and wear: work while mothering. These two things do not need to be mutually exclusive. You can contribute to the world in positive and meaningful ways while being a devoted parent. One of the most important benefits for some mothers is that babywearing helps overcome Postpartum Depression (PPD).

Research supports the benefits of babywearing. Like with infant massage, the power of nurturing touch involved in babywearing tunes you in to your little one and results in reduced crying, improved breastfeeding rates, improved sleep, better attachment and improved parental responsiveness. Evidence-based benefits for full term babies include improved state organization and motor system modulation; improved temperature regulation; and an analgesic effect, reduced crying, improved maternal responsiveness, and babies who were more securely attached. Preterm babies especially have been shown to receive marked benefits from babywearing including shortened hospital stay, decreased illness, higher exclusive breastfeeding rates/longer breastfeeding duration, increased weight gain, improved temperature regulation, and improved maternal sense of competence.

How?

Try, try, try again. Like breastfeeding, babywearing takes some work at the beginning to get the hang of it. If I had a nickel for every time I was stopped while wearing my baby out in the world and told, "Wow, that looks amazing. I wish I could have that. I was given a Baby Bjorn for my shower but it hurt my back." or "Wow, that looks amazing. I wish I could have that but my baby didn't like it. I think her legs were uncomfortable." (or something to these extents). I had to try many styles, types, and brands before I found the perfect carriers for me and my babies. And it took practice to get the hang of using each one. But once you make it over the hump, there is bliss on the other side. Don't be intimidated and don't quit! Get recommendations from other like-minded parents. This is important- other like-minded parents. You may have a lot of friends who you like and have a lot of history with who occasionally use a Baby Bjorn and tell you to get one but look for role models around you. If you see a mom loading groceries in her cart while reading a list with her older son and as you get closer notice she is even breastfeeding too- ask her about her sling! I am frequently asked about my tools for babywearing. I take it as a compliment each and every time. Go shopping! Every store that sells slings has models to try on. Stores like the Pomerado Woman's Boutique and Babies in Bloom have people there to give you all the help you need. My favorite carriers are Baby K'tan for newborns and Ergo Baby as he gets heavier and needs more support. There are many other types (ring sling, mei tai, structured carrier, moby wrap, etc.) and brands. And for each type of carrier there are numerous position options for baby.

Quote:

Babywearing is extremely beneficial to getting breastfeeding off to a good start. When babies are worn, either skin-to-skin or in a baby wrap/carrier, they cry less, are more neurologically centered, and feel less stress. Skin-to-skin and babywearing in the first month after childbirth has been proven to help bring in a mother's milk more quickly and help develop a sustained milk supply. As a breastfeeding mom, it is easier to sense when your baby is hungry because you will notice all of the 'hunger signs' (smacking lips, hands to mouth, rooting) before it accelerates to the last sign (crying!) Also, it is very easy to master breastfeeding while babywearing, which allows the mom more freedom to go about her day without worrying about breastfeeding in public or scheduling her day around when her baby might be ready to eat. Women 40 And Fabulous - The Good, Bad And Ugly Of Turning The Big Four Oh!

Have you heard? 40 is the new 30. That is if at 30 you were starting to show those fine lines, your underarms were beginning to sag and yet your inner self was starting to be twice as strong as it was at 20. For most of us, turning 40 will be a dramatic difference from the past two decades of our lives.

Turning 40 carries the weight of "oh my God, I'm getting old." We realize we are not, after all, invincible. The three glasses of wine we used to be able to drink now dwindles down to one. The eyesight we had so sharply now becomes dimmer (yikes...trying on those reading glasses in the drugstore is an exercise in humble). The body needs more work. The skin needs more powerful products (and possibly procedures?). The spirit starts to clamor for past passions and dreams. We realize this is our life. We better really start doing something about it.

Of course you've heard the stories "Once I turned 40, my rear headed south and didn't stop." "After 40, my energy just dropped." "Getting old sucks." All true. It happens. It doesn't skip anyone. Some are more affected than others, but we all are affected. There is some solace in that fact. We are united in the aging process. It's what we do about it that separates us.

Some let the downhill slide begin and never make an attempt to stop it. Some go a bit overboard and start heading to the docs for Botox well before hitting 35. There's a happy medium in there somewhere, but it does take effort. If you are set on aging well, you need to work at it. It does not just happen.

Naturally your diet needs to be healthy. Of course you need to exercise (definitely start doing weight training if you haven't). Your body has always needed this. Get yourself to a good dermatologist to assess a skincare program (washing your face with whatever's in the shower just won't cut it anymore). However, it's what happens inside that makes the entire process so darn interesting.

You look in the mirror and see someone older, maybe a little tired with a bit less spark. However, upon closer inspection, you also see a full-grown woman with wisdom, clarity, sense of self and even confidence. It's those inner changes that totally make up for the loss of girlish glow you might experience. While we still want to look youthful and attractive, we somehow know that giving up that rather naive look about our eyes for the deeper, slightly more crinkled look is absolutely worth it.

There are women who would probably say they'd give up the wisdom to have the youth back. But if they really thought about it, would they? Would they, if given the choice, want to make those same past mistakes again? Deal with those toxic people long ago cut out of our lives? Work in that awful dead-end job while trying to make something of ourselves? Deal with the diapers? Date out-of-work musicians and cocky guys who never did call? Worry about the rent? The roommates? The uncertainty?

If you really think about it, the youth factor is overrated. Sure, you can exist on three hours of sleep, eat what you like without worrying about sagging, not have the responsibilities of your current life. But, like in the old Twilight Zone episodes, the price may be too steep. Nothing is free.

These days turning 40 is completely different than when our mothers and grandmothers turned 40. We aren't necessarily deemed matronly and doomed to skirts below the knee and sensible shoes. We can wear tight jeans, super high silly heels, body-hugging jackets and even hair extensions. We can look 30 (or maybe 35) as well as be smart, sexy, confident and self-powerful. If it's done right, it's done well. If it's not, it's just a sad clinging to a younger time. It's finding that line between that works for you.

As a 40+ year old woman, I know it takes work to look and feel good. It takes more than some and less than others. As always, it's a work in progress. I relish the work ahead. As a woman facing the same, be careful what you spout to others coming up the age ladder. We should sing the praises of becoming a more self-evolved woman and let them that face it later, dare I say, even look forward to the prospect?

Baby Wearing and Organic Baby Carriers

Baby Wearing is a method of carrying or 'wearing' your baby in a piece of fabric that can be wrapped around your baby and yourself, slung across a shoulder in a fabric Sling or Rebozo, secured in a traditional Asian style carrier such as a Mei Tai, worn on your body in a Backpack or Framed style carrier, or held in one of the most popular style of carriers today - a Soft-Structured carrier such as an Ergo or Beco baby carrier. Holding, carrying and wearing your baby is not a new invention or trend. Long before the use of baby carriages, prams, strollers or push chairs became the norm, women have worn their babies to keep them warm, facilitate nursing, help regulate breathing and heart beat patterns, keep babies safe from predators and danger, and to allow mothers to go about their daily activities or work, all while keeping their precious baby close at hand.

Recent studies suggest that babies who are carried not only cry less, but also learn more than non-carried babies as they spend less time crying to communicate their needs, and more time observing what their mothers and other people in their community are doing. If you wear your baby on your front, side, hip or back, your baby is essentially at the same level as you are, and is able to observe everything you do from the same vantage point. A good baby carrier not only frees up your hands to shop, cook, clean, talk on the phone or attend to a toddler or sibling, but a Sling, Wrap, or Carrier worn correctly will support your baby without causing any discomfort to the parent, caretaker or person wearing your baby. Wearing your baby in a Sling or Carrier also promotes communication between your baby and yourself. Parents of worn babies become very aware of their children's gestures, movements and facial expressions which lead to positive interaction and communication between you and your child.

A sling or baby carrier can even act as a transitional womb during those early months when a baby needs his or her mother nearly 24/7. If your baby suffers from colic or you have a baby that has a difficult time sleeping, or startles easily, a baby carrier may be just what the doctor ordered - or didn't order but should have. For breastfeeding moms, a sling can provide a discreet nursing environment where your baby can nurse without distractions, and then simply fall asleep against your chest. Perhaps the most import item on a new mom or dad's checklist, a wrap, sling or carrier for your baby can be used from birth all the way through the toddler years. You will find it indispensable in airports, restaurants & in busy cities where pushing a stroller becomes nothing but a hassle, and in keeping strangers' curious hands away from your newborn. As parents of a toddler and and infant, our baby carriers are the best baby 'gear' investment we have made to date, and we do not own a single stroller. To top it all off, wearing your baby in a carrier on your body is great weight-bearing exercise and can help mom AND dad lose the extra baby weight.

I tried to see your side of the abortion issue

But abortion to me still equals the murder of a human life while Women talk themselves into abortions because they are lazy about childcare like changing diapers and feeding as well as other inconvenient maternity lifestyle changes. So they opt to abort their baby instead

New parents have a special glow. Their love opens a doorway for the arrival of a new precious life. When you are searching for the most heartfelt and unique gift to be able to give them, look at personalized necklaces and bracelets that have become so popular of late. The handcrafted personalized jewelry has an even greater value because you can add either a personal message or the family names making them one-of-a-kind originals. Following are a few of the most popular necklaces and bracelets.

Heart of Gold Personalized Necklaces and Bracelets

These new parent gifts are popular with Celebrity parents like Jennifer Garner, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kate Hudson, and if Jennifer is wearing them, what do you bet hubby Ben is wearing? The focus of this personalized jewelry is the two .999 fine silver charms. The larger charm says "Bebe Love" surrounding the central 22k gold heart inlay. The second, smaller tag, also fine silver, bares the hand engraved name of baby either close to your heart, suspended from the sterling silver ball chain, or at the pulse of your wrist.

Mommy and Daddy Tag Personalized Necklaces and Bracelets

Mommy and Daddy can enjoy the same personalized baby jewelry with these hip tag necklaces, bracelets, and key fobs. By the same artist as the Heart of Gold series, the Mommy and Daddy Tags have a heart engraved in the artists own flourishing style placed in the center of the .999 fine silver Bebe Love tag. The second smaller tag carries the name of your baby and the birth date. So whether with necklace, bracelet or key chain, Mommy, Daddy, and Grandparents can let the whole world know of their joy and happiness.

Daddy Tags Personalized Necklaces and Bracelets

Just because they were designed with Daddy in mind does not mean that Mommy can't wear them too. Clean, bold styling, these Daddy Tags are also made from fine, recycled, .999 silver. The necklace can be worn either with a sterling silver ball chain or a handsome leather cord. Both tags are the same size, one featuring Mom or Dad's initial, and the other, the name and birth date of the baby. The chains can be ordered up to 30" in length for Dad's comfort.

Triple Tiny Charms Personalized Necklaces and Bracelets

This is totally delightful new Mommy and Daddy jewelry that both will love to wear. In either 14k gold or sterling silver, these charms are hand stamped with your personal message: "I Love U", Mommy Daddy Baby, the names of parents and child, or anything your heart says would bring a smile of appreciation to the new parents. The bracelet for the silver Triple Tiny Charms necklace is very uniquely styled with 3 charms enclosed by a link chain. Dads, Mommy will love the distinctive look of this jewelry. And in gold, a resplendent 14k gold bracelet known as the Gold Family Bracelet because of the cluster of 5 tiny charms, a 14k gold heart, and 4 accents in either white freshwater pearls or Swarovski crystals held together as one on a 14k gold hammered cable chain.

Caring For Your Diaper Bags

Mothers need to bring a lot of things as they go out of their homes with their baby with them, they would need a bag for their laptop, a bag for shopping and of course a diaper bag for the needs of their baby such as diaper, clothes, milk dispenser and baby bottles. If a mom will be bringing three bags with her, she'll look like a purse tree with bags design. Mothers can use hobo diaper bags instead of carrying plenty of bags with them as they travel. With hobo diaper bags, mothers can enjoy the functionality and the luxury that the hobo diaper bags can bring.

If you are just going to visit a friend or relative with your baby, you do not have to bring huge and bulky bag with you, you can use clutch diaper bag. Clutch diaper bags can make you bring your baby's essential plus it can make you look elegant at the same time.

There are lots of different clutch diaper bags and hobo diaper bags, so you have to look into the different styles in order for you to make sure that it will fit best with your personality. You can look into the available designs over the internet to be able to buy the right designs for you. With few clicks on your mouse, you can buy the bag that can provide you with luxury, elegance and function, all in one bag.

Having fab designer diaper bags such as clutch diaper bags and hobo diaper bags can bring fashion, elegance and beauty to mothers. But of course, you must take into account that you have to clean them up to maintain its elegance.

Typically, as a mom, you do have more than one diaper bag for the things of your baby. And each of the bags comes differently. So, there are different ways on how to effectively clean the bags. The manufacturer or seller is the one who knows well on how to clean the bag, so it is best that you ask the manufacturer or the seller on how to clean the bag. Usually, as you buy the item, the manufacturer or seller will suggest on how to clean it up. So, see to it that you take a little of your time asking on how to clean and care for the bags.

Of course, mothers want to look good and be functional at the same time; designers do understand this that is why they created bags that can easily be cared and cleaned. There are bags that are completely washables or you just simply need to wipe it clean.

If there are any spoiled wipes, tissues or snacks at your bag, do not forget to remove it, regular maintenance should be given to your clutch diaper bag or hobo diaper bag. Free the bags from decaying pieces since your bag will look and smell horrible if you neglect it. When putting things on your bag, you must see to it that you organize things out in order to avoid tearing or breaking it.

Completely Doable Baby List

So you're going to have a baby...

Congratulations!! Once you get through the "Whoa, I'm going to be a mom / dad" to "Can I do this?" to "Okay! I'm ready!" your next thought should be "What do I need?" Some will give you horrifying lists that will cause your head to spin. As a mother of 2 young children I have figured out that you don't need as much as the lists say, and you certainly don't need it all at once. I have broken my list down into age categories: 0-3mos (thing you should have on hand when baby comes home), 3-6mos, and 6-12mos. A word of advice: your baby doesn't care if the onsie she's wearing cost $5 or $50, so save yourself some money and put it towards the important stuff, like college tuition!

0-3 Months
Must haves:

- Place for baby to sleep: crib, bassinette, cardboard box (kidding) etc
- 10 Receiving blankets - for swaddling baby or cleaning off spit up
- 5-10 onsies - good for under layer in winter, or only layer on hot days
- 5-10 sleepers
- Nail clippers & hairbrush
- Baby soap/shampoo
- Washcloths
- diapers & wipes
- Car Seat
- Bulb Syringe
- diaper rash cream
- Thermometer
- Bottles/Formula/Breast Pump (depending on your choice)
- Bunting suit for cold days (if needed)

Nice to haves:

- diaper Bag
- Baby soap
- Other clothes
- Baby Monitor
- Stroller
- Baby Sling
- Play Pen
- Change Table / Dresser
- Rocking Chair
- Baby bathtub
- Toys, etc
- Swing
- Soothers

TIP - Put all this on your gift registry and you won't have to buy very much!

3-6 mos

- More clothes (assuming baby has grown)
- High chair
- Safety items (baby gate, outlet covers, etc)
- Age appropriate toys and books
- Bibs (a lot of bibs)
- Baby spoons
- Baby cereal (ie: Pablum)
- Jolly jumper

6-12 mos

- Yes, more clothes!
- Baby walker
- New carseat (once baby reaches Federal recommended age/weight limit to move to forward-facing seat)
- Even more books & toys!

See? Not so bad once you get through the first list is it? If you start a few months before the baby comes and just buy a few things when you are out an about you will be done in no time.

Mother's Charm Necklaces

Mother's Day is one of the most celebrated "folk" holidays of the year. By Sunday, May 10, flower shops will look like a 90% off sale at Macy's, an APB will have to be sent out to find a box of Godiva chocolates, and Husbands and Fathers will be scouring jewelry stores for another exquisite piece of Mommy Jewelry that speaks of the perfect gift for the most precious woman in your life: the mother of your children. A mother necklace accented with charms is a natural choice for the man who, Mother's Day or not, wants to show how wonderful a mother his wife is.

Whether for Mother's Day or just because, mother jewelry is the perfect way to say "I love and cherish you". Literally.

Charm necklaces allow you to personalize your message with your own words, your names, and the names of your children. So simple, the elegance and the singularity of the message will carry further than all the gold and diamonds in the world. However gentlemen, just because a mommy necklace may be simple, gold and diamonds do not have to be out of the picture.

Celebrity Charm Mother Jewelry

Heidi Klum has been seen wearing a simply elegant gold mother necklace with 3 charms, wearing in front of millions on Oprah with a smashing little black dress and at home graceful with her beloved in a warm family moment in the living room. Handmade delicate 14k 3/4" gold filled charms on a cable chain worn long and inscribed with up to 7 letters can be added for each member of the family.

Men if you are not sure whether to pick a silver or gold mother necklace, gift her with the fine silver charms with 22k gold hearts favored by Jennifer Garner, and Gwyneth Paltrow. Inscribed with Bebe Love, the 1 x 1/2" Heart tag is the focal point of this mommy necklace that reflects your love for the mother of your baby. The slender baby charm and heart are suspended on a silver ball chain. For an extra special effect you can coordinate the mother jewelry with a bracelet in the exact same style.

Precious Mother Jewelry

A truly precious gift, perfect for the new mother and very unique, is a lovely silver handcrafted 3 charm necklace threaded on a sterling silver oxidized chain. The first charm tells her how much you love her, inscribed in Portuguese, Mama, Bebe, Amor over and over again until there is no more room on the oblong tag. The simple round charm is reserved for a single word of love. You may choose her name, the baby's or a special message. The third charm is a tiny silver disc embedded with a 22kt gold heart and accented with rubies.

Husbands, you can never go wrong with mother jewelry in gold and diamonds. For a mother necklace that demonstrates your unending love and her importance in your life, gift your beloved with a 14k gold and diamond charm mother necklace. Three monogrammed initial charms are set within a ring of diamonds representing the everlasting love of a man for his life long partner.

Do You Know How to Cure Yeast Infection in a Toddler - What Everybody Should Know

Do you know how to cure a yeast infection in a toddler? While 75% of women encounter it at some stage in their life, many people are unaware that toddlers can have it too. You can find treatments and information on how to treat yeast infection in a toddler. Let's delve deeper into the topic and give you some ideas.

The first thing you need to diagnose when dealing with yeast infection in a toddler is the severity of the infection. Of course, you may want to use anti-fungal cream if the infection is not severe. There are a myriad of natural treatments you can use to cure a yeast infection on a toddler as well.

Do you know that women can also get it because they are wearing tight-fitting jeans? At the toddler's level one thing you should always do is constantly change their diaper. If the yeast stays on the diaper, it would be quite unhealthy since moisture in trapped areas allows the yeast to multiply. Changing your toddler's diaper would make sure that the infection does not spread. Never use the same towel to wipe the affected area.

You should always try to find out what the cause of the yeast infection is before jumping to drugs. Natural treatments can be one of the safest ways to cure it in the toddler. They will also be much healthier for the toddler's body. Treating a yeast infection in a toddler with natural remedies is a safe way to remove symptoms but also make sure the infection does not occur again.

Women - You Can Stand Up and Urinate - Updated

Is it hard for you to bend down and sit on a toilet? Is it even harder when you need to do this outside of your own home? Would you like to stand up and urinate? Read on.

When my elderly aunt needed transportation to and from her doctor's office and to run errands I would be the one she would call.

I was young and did not have a clue as to the problems of the elderly or handicapped but I learned by transporting my aunt.

My aunt had problems with arthritis and she could not bend her legs easily and trying to sit on her toilet at home even with an extension on her toilet seat, in a doctor's office or at a hospital was a painful, horrible ordeal she would have to tolerate.

YOU TELL ME- HOW DO YOU BEND SOMEBODY THAT CAN NOT BE BENT?

Well, this became part of my job description as I transported my aunt. She lived alone and I know that she struggled each and every time she had to bend down to use her extended toilet.

One day I was waiting in the waiting room for her to return from her visit with her doctor. I heard a woman talking to her neighbor on the next chair. I listened in on their conversation and even butted in and asked a few questions.

You see, this woman was explaining to her neighbor about this wonderful product she had just purchased.

SHE COULD URINATE ANYPLACE, ANYTIME!

She explained about how it was a urinal that slipped inside her clothes and she could urinate, anyplace, and anytime. She did not need any assistance and it was completely discreet.

Well, I can tell you my mind started working overtime. My aunt could certainly use this marvelous urinal in her home and right here in her own doctor's office. She would be able to stand up and urinate. I would not have to bend her and put her in excruciating pain. I could not wait until my aunt walked back into the waiting room.

When she finally appeared I had this wonderful lady repeat her story and asked her how we bought the product.

My aunt did not need any convincing, she was sold. She mentioned that she would even save a fortune in disposable diapers she had at times been forced to wear.

The woman whipped out her small urinal and showed it to her right there in the lobby.

There were about six other women present and they all watched the presentation and were very impressed.

She showed all the women how easy it was to use the urinal and its two different lengths of tubing. She told how it could easily be rinsed out and reused.

The tubing could slide into a disposable/reusable vinyl bag. Presto, she showed how easy the deed could be accomplished and nobody had to be the wiser.

I could tell this woman was very excited about her new urinal. It had changed her life drastically and now she was eager to share her experience with others. Her excitement bounded around the room. We were all affected by it.

If my aunt had been convinced before seeing the product demonstrated, after seeing the demonstration her mind was definitely made up.

My aunt was very excited about returning home and ordering her new lifesaver.

My mind started thinking of other ways the small, compact, plastic urinal could be used.

It could be used with people in wheelchairs, bed confined and on airplanes, and anywhere a toilet was not available.

I thought I could use this fantastic device since I was going on a camping trip and I was not looking forward to squatting in the bushes. I could stand up and urinate just like my aunt.

I then became very excited. My aunt had wanted to visit her sister for months but because of the urination problem she had to put that idea on the back burner. Now she could visit her sister.

My aunt purchased this wonderful urinal and her life has been independent, less painful and happier since.

This women's urinal can be used anyplace, anytime.

Women everywhere, do you know what this means?

Potty Training Tips For Girls

Parenting Question

"My older daughter turns 4 in a few days and still has very little interest
in potty training. Initially, I was waiting for her to lead the way by showing
interest. Her sister was born when she was 27 months old, and I didn't feel that
either immediately before or after the birth was a good time for either of us to
start potty training. Time dragged on, until I started finding myself getting
angry about changing her dirty diapers just after she turned 3. One day, I
decided it was time for her to start using the toilet. The first few mornings,
she threw a tantrum about wanting a diaper, but then she accepted wearing
underpants. I made up a chart and let her put stickers on it for going in the
toilet. There was some success, but as time went by, the success rate declined.
She became more and more resistant to reminders to go to the toilet.

Earlier this year, our family decided to move house, and I could see this was
causing my daughter some stress. After talking to other moms, I decided to
remove the potty pressure--so I asked my daughter whether she would like to wear
diapers or underpants. For a while, she chose to go back to diapers. After three
weeks, she asked to go back to underpants. I tried be neutral about her
decisions and to keep my input low-key and supportive. My husband and I praised
her verbally when she succeeded. But the same thing happened.

I know my daughter is very bright, strong-willed, and likes to push my buttons.
She is also very sensitive and cautious. She is genuinely afraid of sitting on
toilets without a child's potty-seat on top, but we don't make her do that if
she doesn't want to. We either take her potty-seat with us to friends' houses,
or allow her to choose to wear pull-ups when we go out. Occasionally, we have
gotten so frustrated that we have coerced her (for example, no lunch until you
sit on the potty)--despite knowing that negativity should never be part of the
potty training process.

I did some research and found that the only way of eliminating resistance is to
eliminate whatever your child is resisting against. So I've tried being
completely neutral about the whole thing and to show no negative reaction to
'accidents'. Maybe I haven't tried long enough, but the accidents just seem to
go on and on. Eventually, I can't start showing disapproval and getting angry
again. This week, she is back in diapers because I am so tired of dealing with
the wet and dirty clothes (to be honest, the seemingly pointless resistance bugs
me much more than the laundry). Obviously, my behavior is enabling hers and
together we are creating this cycle, but I don't know how to change it. Help!"--Mom
Seeking Potty Training Tips for Girls

Positive Parenting Tip For Potty Training Girls

Dear Mom Seeking Potty Training Tips for Girls:

Phew! I am tired from just reading about your experience, so I can imagine how
frustrated you must be! The good news is that potty training tips for girls are
essentially no different from potty training tips for boys.

Firstly, good for you for doing some research on resistance. I do believe your
daughter is resisting--but not what you think she's resisting. She's actually
resisting growing up. You've brought a new baby into the home and, to an oldest
child who used to be the only child, this can be traumatic. Your daughter is
faced with the fact that she is no longer the baby. When this happens
(especially when you have two children close in age and of the same sex), the
oldest child may:

o Find a way to continue to act like the baby of the family by wearing diapers.

o Look for ways to keep you and your husband busy with her (and not her sister),
including the sticker chart and the back-and-forth resistance you are
experiencing with potty training. Negative attention is better than none at all.

Effective Potty Training Tips for Girls Who Resist

Consistently use these five effective potty training tips for girls who are
resisting and your potty training situation will turn around relatively quickly.
Be patient and plan for things to take some time (especially during the first
couple of weeks).

1. Have Faith that She WILL Learn - No matter how resistant your daughter
is to potty training, she will learn (everyone does). Potty training is one of
the key skills preschoolers need to learn, and they do learn it--be patient and
know that some learn slower than others.

2. Stick with Your Decision to Forgo Pull-ups and Diapers - As you know,
accidents (many of them) will happen. But when kids aren't given the opportunity
to experience the natural discomfort that comes with wet clothes--by using
pull-ups that soak it all up--this can prolong the time it takes for potty
training.

3. Stay Away from External Reward Systems - You don't need stickers to
reward your daughter for her success. The rewards of potty training should be
the internal rewards she experiences from feeling good about learning a new
skill that comes with growing up. Continue to encourage her when she remembers
to go to the washroom.

4. Get Her to Help Clean Up When Accidents Happen - Continue to not make
a big deal out of accidents. Let go of the many external reminders (verbal and
visual) all together. The next time she has an accident, have her help you do
the washing and thank her for it. Be consistent with this and allow her to learn
from the experience of wet pants.

5. Give Your Daughter More Responsibilities Around the House - The more
your daughter can do around the house to help, the more she'll feel good about
her position as "big sister". Look for ways for her to help you with the baby
and ways for her to help you out with the housework. Then thank her! Give her
the opportunity to pass on what she learns to her "little sister" and your
situation will improve even more. All this can go far in boosting her sense of
contribution, responsibility and her desire to grow up.

I also suggest finding a way to let go of your own anger around the potting
training issue. It appears you have a very strong-willed daughter on your hands
who is pushing back. The more anger you feel (even when not outwardly
expressed), the more she will resist and push back. Unfortunately, parents who
get into this type of emotional tug-of-war lose! If you start to see her
accidents as quality time you can have together doing laundry, you might feel a
shift. I would also highly recommend reading Chapter 7 ("Secret to Solving
Sibling Rivalry Once And For All") of my book When You're About to Go Off the
Deep End, Don't Take Your Kids with You, so you can quickly nip any other
future sibling-related issues in the bud.

Cinderella by Anne Sexton

Anne Sexton, "Cinderella" You always read about it: the plumber with the twelve children who wins the Irish Sweepstakes. From toilets to riches. That story. Or the nursemaid, some luscious sweet from Denmark who captures the oldest son's heart. from diapers to Dior. That story. Or a milkman who serves the wealthy, eggs, cream, butter, yogurt, milk, the white truck like an ambulance who goes into real estate and makes a pile. From homogenized to martinis at lunch. Or the charwoman who is on the bus when it cracks up and collects enough from the insurance. From mops to Bonwit Teller. That story. Once the wife of a rich man was on her deathbed and she said to her daughter Cinderella: Be devout. Be good. Then I will smile down from heaven in the seam of a cloud. The man took another wife who had two daughters, pretty enough but with hearts like blackjacks. Cinderella was their maid. She slept on the sooty hearth each night and walked around looking like Al Jolson. Her father brought presents home from town, jewels and gowns for the other women but the twig of a tree for Cinderella. She planted that twig on her mother's grave and it grew to a tree where a white dove sat. Whenever she wished for anything the dove would drop it like an egg upon the ground. The bird is important, my dears, so heed him. Next came the ball, as you all know. It was a marriage market. The prince was looking for a wife. All but Cinderella were preparing and gussying up for the event. Cinderella begged ...

Why Choosing High Quality Over Low Quality Is the Only Sensible Way

Have you ever looked at your wardrobe closely? Have you really analysed all the pieces of clothing that you own? Have you ever given a consideration to the % of clothing that you actually wear on a day to day basis? This may come as a bit of a surprise to you but the majority of people wear only 5% of the clothing that they own. That means that a lot of the clothes that people wear things that they really love and always want to wear. People just keep wearing these few pieces of clothing and usually ignore all the crap that they have. This is something to consider here, and something that people really need to look at. If we only wear a max of 5% of the clothing that we own, then why do we waste a lot of money every single year on low quality crap that we neither wear or particularly like. The problem is that most people think that they should spend the money that they earn on things that they don't really need.

But imagine a reality where all the pieces of clothing that a person purchased were very high quality and items that they loved. Items that they wanted to wear every single day and loved to wear all the time. Items that made head turn on the street. Items that people wanted to know where they were purchased. This is a life that a lot of people live and something that everyone should be supporting.

Really what you need to do is stop and stop now. Stop where you are and stop consuming and purchasing all the crappy clothing that you keep on buying. You need to stop buying clothing based on your impulses and start looking for those few pieces that you really adore and you will find yourself wanting to buy again and again.

Next you want to throw or donate all the crappy pieces of clothing that you own. You are really going to be suppressed by how much crap you really do own. You will after completing this task find that you only have a few pieces of quality items left on your clothes rack. This should make you feel great knowing that every single day you are going to be wearing clothing that you adore and want to wear.

Its as simple as that, and really the only sensible way you should be viewing your clothing. Few items of very high quality over many items of low quality junk.

Swedish Dad Tries to Breastfeed

A Swedish Dad is going above and beyond the typical dad duties of changing diapers or reading a bedtime story. He is attempting to breastfeed. Ragnar Bengtsson, a 26-year-old student at Stockholm University, is currently in the process of inducing lactation from his own breasts by regularly pumping them. Bengtsson, who is the father of a two-year-old, has no plans to nurse his toddler, but instead wants to plan ahead for his future children. Anything that doesnt do any harm is worth trying out. And if it works it could prove very important for mens ability to get much closer to their children at an early stage, Bengtsson told The Local, an English newspaper in Sweden. Bengtssons breastfeeding experiment will be documented by Swedish TV8, a station Bengtsson maintains a website for. So what exactly is his plan? Bengtsson plans to pump his breasts every three hours until the beginning of December. He is also a full-time student, which means hell be pulling out the pump during his lectures. It doesnt bother me if it makes people uncomfortable. If they have issues with it thats their problem. Endocrinologist Sigbritt Werner told The Local that Bengtsson might produce a drop or two after three or four months, but that without hormones (which Bengtsson does not plan on taking) it will likely be impossible for him to produce enough milk to feed a child. Women breastfeed after theyve been bathing in estrogen during a nine month pregnancy, so obviously it takes some time, Werner ...
