First Fathers Day Presents Ideas

First time fathers are just as special as a woman with her first child. If he is a dad worth his salt, he goes through those first months just as sleep deprived and stressed but as happy as his wife does. Men are generally slower to get used to dirty diapers and all the pleasant things that they entail. So, just as mom's first Mother's Day is special for her and deserves a special gift, the same is true for a first time dad on his first Father's Day.

Whether you are the one married to this saint of a man, are his parents, or just a friend wanting to make the day memorable, his first Father's Day gift should be something that will make him smile as much as that new baby does. There are plenty of Father's Days coming where you can fall back on the mundane standard gifts like ties and coffee mugs with baby's picture.

For the sports fan a great gift is matching jerseys from his favorite NFL team or college team. This is a great way to start that special sports bond between a dad and his son or daughter. Don't forget to take a picture of them together wearing their jerseys for the baby's album.

Another great gift for a first time dad is the book by Bill Cosby called "Fatherhood". It is full of stories from Cosby's own experiences - from the bizarre things that happen to the sentimental unforgettable moments. The book is a good reminder that nothing dad is going through is new and it is all quite typical.

Maybe you could buy dad his own diaper bag for those moments when it's his turn to go into the bathroom at a restaurant and change a messy diaper. There actually is such a thing as a manly diaper bag. Rather than carrying the pretty pink bag with the bunnies and duckies all over it, he can carry one in black, gray, or camouflage that looks more like a laptop case or messenger bag.

Something that is popular these days for sharing pictures are those gadgets that store digital photos on a key chain fob or in your wallet. You can buy a special wallet that has a small removable digital photo album that can hold around 50 pictures. This a great way for dad to brag to his buddies without carrying around a stack of prints.

So make Father's Day special with an interesting gift that he will not only be willing to use, but will always make him remember his first Father's Day.
